Introduction outlining the training Aims and Objectives setting out ground rules followed by an icebreaker using Power Point (PPT). Pictogram handout will be used in conjunction with an ongoing discussion of the symbols.
Session 1 - 2
Example A SMART cards and their uses will be discussed using SMART cards and PPT and open floor discussions around why drivers need to use a Smart card and the consequences should they not comply. With the use of Power Point (PPT), Vehicle Unit (VU) software, discussions the learner will have a better understanding of the importance of using the equipment correctly and why. . With the use of dummy equipment the learner will given a demonstration followed by their interaction

Quiz will be used to ensure that the learning aims and objectives of the course are met
In class, the trainer will act as a moderator, questioner, and teacher to help the learner gain a better understanding of the use of the Tachograph. By actively participating in class discussions, the learner will sharpen their own insights, and those of the companies they work for. Thus they will not only become familiar with the content of the course, but perhaps more importantly, they will also learn to master the process of analysis that is a central aspect of any drivers work.

Session 2
With the use of PPT the learner will be made aware of legislation and the liabilities that relate to the industry and the consequences of any breach to include Corporate Man Slaughter.
Session 3
While learning about the legislation in their groups the learners will be shown different equipment/methods of securing loads and what cargo they would best secure. This will be followed with a PPT with, films, clips embedded to explain the principles of safe loading focusing on forces acting on the load during transportation. E.g. cornering, breaking
Session 4
Concentrates on weight management, the learners will be set a task to identify what different weight of the vehicle is e.g. GVW, MAN Kerb weight... This will provide crucial safety awareness knowledge for those involved with loading, unloading, transportation and movement of cargo and freight by road. The learner will gain an understanding of how to calculate how much load and restraint are required and the safety considerations they need to take into account.

Session 2-3
Driver Hours and the Working Time Directive (WTD)
To establish a tangible understanding of Driver Hours regulations the learners will undertake tasks in groups (to make it an inclusiveness environment/experience) using handouts and questionnaires to see what knowledge and experience they have on the subject. Using of PPT , Smartboard, handouts and flipchart Driver Hours rules, Working Time Directive (WTD) and record keeping will be studied with explanations to why they are in place and the consequences should there be any breach

For learners who find it difficult to absorb this intense subject, DVD and video clips on Driver Hours, WTD and graduated fixed penalties will be shown with a question and answer session following
