Description
The objectives of a Driver CPC Drivers' Hours course are to enable learners to achieve the following by the end of the training:
Knowledge & Understanding
Master the core regulations, including EU rules (Regulation 561/2006), UK Domestic Rules, and the Road Transport Working Time Directive (RTWTD), covering driving limits, rest periods, breaks, and applicable exemptions.
Understand the legal requirements and operational principles of analogue, digital, and Smart Gen 2 tachographs.
Be aware of enforcement procedures, the graduated fixed penalty system, and the potential consequences of infringements for both drivers and employers.
Recognize the risks of fatigue and the link between compliance with hours rules and road safety, as well as personal health and well-being.
Practical Skills
Operate tachographs correctly, including mode switching, manual entries, record storage, and downloading requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete records of driving, working, and rest time in line with legal standards.
Calculate and plan working schedules effectively to ensure full compliance with all relevant rules.
Compliance & Professionalism
Meet the mandatory periodic training requirements to maintain a valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
Fulfill legal and ethical duty of care obligations towards oneself, employers, and other road users.
Reduce the risk of penalties, fines, operational disruptions, and accidents caused by non-compliance.
