Description
The delivery of the theory part of the course is via power-point presentation, along with short video, spontaneous examples using the marker board, reference to the "Operators Manual" all of which will generate discussion and feedback. Each of the sections covers the legal requirements for the LGV driver in his/her everyday work. The Objective is to train the driver to be a competent and safe operator within the rules so that they will operate legally in their workplace. We will explore why we need legislation to operate safely, when key legislation may be present at certain loading/unloading points. The theory session will cover fundamental areas of the operation of slinging and signalling when used with a lorry loader, where to position it for safe operation, knowledge concerning Thorough Examination Certificates for the lifting accessories, calculating the weight of loads to be lifted at various radii on the lorry loaders booms, safety inspections of the equipment, demonstrating safe slinging techniques and performing signals to operate the lorry loader with sample loads.
