By The end of the course, drivers will eb able to
Explain their own H&S responsibilities, 7 those of their employer
Identify common, occupational hazards associated with professional driving, including but not limited to, vehicle access, manual handling, loading/unloading goods or passengers, workplace transport, lone working, unfamiliar sites/ locations
Explain the importance of effective pre journey vehicle checks & defect reporting
Apply a dynamic risk assessment approach when conditions, locations or circumstances change
Identify additional risks with night driving & reduced visibility & explain how to adapt
explain how rain, standing water, fog, snow, ice, high winds, heat & low sun can affect vehicle control, grip, visibility & stopping distances
Describe how speed following distances, observation & vehicle positioning should be adapted to road & weather conditions
Identify different hazards associated with different driving environments
Describe appropriate use & limitations of braking systems, retarders & driver assisted systems
