By the end of this module drivers will be able to describe
How the Van Smart Training is fully aligned to meet the requirements of Work Related Road Risk (WRRR), the fleet operator recognition scheme (FORS) Silver level and the Construction Logistics & Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) standards.
The type of licence they hold, what vehicles they can drive, at what speeds and any limitations of use
The types of vulnerable road users they may encounter and how traffic interacts with them and safer driving techniques can help reduce the risk of RTA
They will also learn more about fitness to drive and why the rules governing drivers hours were introduced vehicle and load safety
An introduction to active travel, driver fitness and health
An understanding the cycle/road infrastructure and how the road systems have been developed to make active travel safer
Identifying road danger spots, especially from the perspective of the VRU
Gained additional information relating to defensive driving techniques
An understanding regarding the legal requirements for certain vehicle safety equipment to be fitted and how to maintain its effectiveness
