By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Legal Compliance & Roadworthiness:
Understand the driver’s legal responsibilities for ensuring vehicle roadworthiness across UK and European operations. Recognise the implications of non-compliance, including penalties, fines, curtailment, suspension, and revocation of operator licences
Vehicle Checks & Defect Reporting:
Conduct effective pre-use inspections and daily walkaround checks. Identify and report vehicle defects in accordance with legal and company procedures. Monitor vehicle condition and performance throughout duty periods.
Maintenance & Enforcement:
Understand the role of scheduled maintenance and inspection regimes. Recognise enforcement actions such as prohibition notices and roadside checks. Appreciate the impact of poor maintenance on safety and compliance.
Security Awareness:
Understand personal security, load security, and the protection of surrounding road users. Identify risks associated with poor security practices and their consequences. Recognise how security breaches can affect insurance, customer trust, and business reputation.
Incident Prevention & Safety Measures:
Take appropriate measures to protect themselves, the public, and the environment in the event of an incident or accident. Apply safe practices that reduce operational risk and enhance overall road safety.
To understand security, personal security, load security, surrounding or other road users' security, etc. If failed, consequences can happen: security issues can damage the business, insurance, customer trust and reputation, financial damage, etc.
