By the end of this module drivers will be able to
- Discuss the rules concerning daily and weekly rest periods, and driving breaks and limits.
- Recall and discuss the Working Time Directive in relation to their daily work.
- Discuss how activity is recorded on the digital tachograph and their responsibilities to use the mode switch correctly.
- Identify when a manual entry is necessary and they will also be able to create a manual entry on a digital tachograph.
- Perform checks to their vehicle and discuss the importance of ongoing vehicle awareness.
- Discuss the risks faced by cyclists on the UK’s roads and identify safe practices which can be used to protect and help vulnerable road users including measures that can be taken by drivers of large goods vehicles to reduce the risks posed by their vehicles.
- By the end of this topic drivers will be able to discuss the importance of passenger safety and ways in which they can improve passenger safety as part of their daily roles and responsibilities.
